In the classical component, you will learn traditional denominations handed down by maestros, authentic playing techniques, and various rhythmic cycles.

You will be exposed to the extensive world of tabla repertoire, both in playing and reciting. You will learn how to break down theme lines in order to create your own unique variations when playing classical tabla compositions.

Course Preview

Here's an outline of what you'll learn in your tabla course. The content and pace of lessons will always be customised according to your playing level

Primary and Secondary Tones

You will learn how to play all the main syllables in tabla and once you've achieved that, the less-common tones will be taught.

All about Basics

The most important thing about learning any skill is building the right basics. We will help you build your crucial rudimentary techniques including finger-work, hand placement, and more.

Classical Compositions

You will learn popular classical compositions including Kaydas, Relas and Tukdas. You will also learn how to perform Peshkar, which is the opening movement in a tabla solo.

Vocal Recitation and Solo

For every beat that you play, it's made up of syllables, and we will teach you how to recite these syllables. You will learn how to recite these syllables as fast as you play them!

Contemporary Tabla

If classical tabla is not what you wish to pursue, and you'd rather jam to your favourite songs, then contemporary is the road we'll take. You will learn a more modern way of playing the tabla, with the relevant applicable techniques.

Song Accompaniment

Based on the contemporary approach, you will learn how to play to different genres of songs, applying different grooves, fills and breaks.
